The second webinar on international human rights mechanisms the Etkiniz EU Programme holds with experts will take place on January 22nd 2021 on The World of Business and Human Rights. The topic of discussion at the webinar will be governments’ human rights monitoring obligations regarding the human rights responsibilities of the business world.

Speakers
Friederike Wünschmann has been working for the European Commission since 2002. She worked in Croatia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Kosovo and at Brussels Headquarters. In April 2015, she joined the EU Delegation in Ankara. Being faced with the immense challenges of the Syrian refugee crisis, she first worked for the section dealing with the EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey. Since February 2018, Friederike is part of the EU Delegation’s Civil Society team. She holds a MA in East Slavonic Studies, Political Sciences and Economics.
Dante Pesce is Chairperson United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights and Executive Director of Vincular Centre on Sustainable Business at the Catholic University of Valparaíso, Chile. He is a member of WEF Global Future Council on Human Rights. Pesce graduated from Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Catholic University of Chile in History, Political Science and Public Administration.
Başak Bağlayan is a post-doctoral researcher in fundamental rights at the University of Luxembourg’s Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance. She is specialized in international human rights law and in business and human rights. She also advises the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs on the latter topic in an expert capacity.

Things to consider during the meeting
The maximum number of webinar participants is 500. In case more than 500 people register for the webinar, the system will allow the first 500 people to join at the time of the event.
- Pelin Baykan from Anlatan Eller Derneği (Telling Hand Association) will interpret in sign language at the meeting.
- You can send us your written questions by clicking the Q&A icon in the webinar control at the bottom of the Zoom window. Verbal questions will not be allowed at the webinar. Written questions will be compiled and conveyed to the speaker.
