We invite representatives of CSOs working in the field of human rights to join the seventh of the webinars the Etkiniz EU Programme is holding with experts on international human rights mechanisms, titled “Tips for Writing Reports for CEDAW and Monitoring Opportunities” will take place on Friday, June 4th 2021.

What Will be Discussed at the Webinar?

At the Etkiniz webinar, you will get to learn about the functioning of the CEDAW Committee and about the details of the call the Committee issued for CSOs in Turkey, with a deadline in June 2021. We will also discuss the monitoring opportunities for the CSOs at cross-cutting areas other than women CSOs.

Who is Ishita Dutta?

Ishita currently co-coordinates IWRAW Asia Pacific’s programmes on counterring regression of women’s human rights and interrogating borders and their impact on women’s human rights. She has an academic background in law, having received her LL.M. from New York University School of Law. Her previous professional experiences have spanned legal research, advocacy, project development and management in the areas of gender-based violence against women, sexual and reproductive health and rights and anti-discrimination and equality laws. She has written on these subjects and contributed to feminist publications, including a Zubaan-IDRC project on Sexual Violence and Impunity, and is currently involved in the Feminist Judgment Project, India. She speaks Bengali, Hindi and English.

Things to consider during the meeting

The maximum number of webinar participants is 500. In case more than 500 people register for the webinar, the system will allow the first 500 people to join at the time of the event.

  • Pelin Baykan from Anlatan Eller Derneği (Telling Hands Association) will interpret in sign language at the meeting.
  • You can send us your written questions by clicking the Q&A icon in the webinar control at the bottom of the Zoom window. Verbal questions will not be allowed at the webinar. Written questions will be compiled and conveyed to the speaker.
  • Before the webinar begins, please remember to check that you have an uninterrupted internet connection and that your headset has no problem with sound transmission.
